| Building Relationships: International City/County Management Assn.

| In 2005, CRS provided computers for the International City/County Management Association, held that year at the Minneapolis Convention Center. As the event wound down, conference coordinator Sallie Burnett said to us, "We sure wish you could come to San Antonio with us for next year's meeting." Sallie didn't really expect us to say yes. But CRS soon provided ICMA with a proposal to handle their technology needs for the 2006 meeting in San Antonio. "They sent us a quote, which was quite competitive with one we got from a San Antonio firm, and decided to hire CRS again to provide equipment in San Antonio," recalls Sallie. Our work with ICMA is a great example of how CRS has been able to add value to events no matter where they are located. We want our clients to know that we're happy to provide equipment rental for events outside of our Twin Cities home. This past fall, CRS made the journey to the ICMA conference in Pittsburgh. John and Corey drove a van full of computers (approximately 50 laptops and 50 desktop computers) on the 15-hour ride, and Eric flew out to meet them and assist with onsite service. We set up and maintained equipment for three Internet cafes, press rooms, registration, onsite administration, and training classrooms. "We even loaded some customized learning software onto their classroom computers," recalled Corey. In addition to bringing our equipment out to the conference, we arranged for high-volume copiers and even provided a heavy-duty secuity safe, an item that we don't typically rent. Corey and Eric even stepped in to offer some additional services when a key member of the ICMA staff became ill. Sallie has already asked CRS to start planning to handle technology rentals for their conference in Richmond, Virginia next fall. "Their prices are very reasonable, but their team's customer service is outstanding, which is more to me than price," says Sallie. "It's so easy to work with them." By now, CRS and ICMA are stuck to each other like super glue. "It's like going off to visit friends," says John. "We get to work with people we like being with." "It seems like our conference is already second nature to CRS," adds Sallie. "They seem to know just what we need." CRS clearly understands their needs, and we look forward to working with them again in 2008. |
